Refractometers can also be effective at measuring solution concentrations in sticky or clogging types of liquids. However, these solutions require the measurement device to be cleaned periodically. When equipped with a prism wash nozzle, the ThinProbe allows for in-process cleaning with a jet of water or steam directed at the measurement window.

Therefore, ThinProbe will give an accurate and reliable concentration reading also in a clogging and sticky liquid.
 

exner probe housing

For a wash in an Exner probe housing, the probe tip is withdrawn into a separate chamber. Hence no wash water is injected into the process. The cleaning in the chamber is more efficient too, because the water jet doesn’t have to overcome process pressure and flow forces.
 
When the Exner housing is in prism wash mode, the ThinProbe can be totally extracted without disturbing the process.
